My latest travelogue on this website is ‘A Week in Sicily’: a trip organized by The Travel Department (Ireland) in 2016. I was very interested to visit Sicily as it is such a fascinating island with an extraordinary mixture of different cultures. During our week-long stay, we visited the capital, Palermo, then drove down to Giardini Naxos, where we stayed in a large hotel that offered terrific food at mealtimes. From here we made trips to Mount Etna, Taormina (pictured above) and Syracuse. On a free day I travelled on my own to the very beautiful old town of Noto to view the wonderful architecture there. It was certainly a trip worth making!
